How to Set Up an Affiliate Contract for Your Businesses That Works For You And Your Affiliates

If you are in the process of starting up your own business or you have just started, you know that in order to get the ball rolling you need to get as much help as you possibly can. If your business in going to be online and you have a website in which you are wanting to conduct business through, you will need to find ways to drive traffic to your site. One way in which to do this is to set up your own affiliate program and affiliate contract.

The first thing you need to sit down and do is to make up a list of all the different products and/or services that your business has to offer. On this same page you need to write down all of the keywords you would like that you think will help to drive traffic to your website. This would be words that you think other people might type into a search engine to be able to pull your business up.

Now you can take these words and type them into a search engine and see what sites come up and what kinds of business there might be out there that you will have to compete against. It's important that you take as much time as you can doing this kind of research. You should research their sites and see exactly what your competition is like so that you can best learn how to attract more people to your own site. You can also find out more about your competition by contacting them through email or their “Contact Us” pages and ask questions that might help you learn more about them and how to compete against them.

You also need to find websites that are not competition but seem to write about things that might relate to the different products and services that you offer. Then you should look for a way in which you can contact them and send them a professional email or letter letting them know how you think that the two of you could work together to be successful and ask them if they would be willing to set up an affiliate link on their site.

If the person is local then you should set up a time in which you can meet them in person to go over the details. If they aren't local then you should set up a time when you can have a conference call with them to go over the details of your advertising idea and the percentages you will give them when products and services are sold. You need to already have an idea of what you are going to offer them before you go into your meeting.

The best thing to do is to set up a 30 day trial period. This should give you some time to figure out how well they will be able to send customers to you through their website and it will see if it will be worth it for the two of you to be affiliates. If after that time there seems to be promise you can then set up a contract and negotiate the percentages even more. The average range to give an affiliate can be anywhere from 10% to 40% of the profit that you make from each sale.

Once you have done this you will need to provide them with your permanent ad link for your site so they can put it in their website. You will then want to include keywords built into your site that is going to put their site name within your sites own keywords.

You should monitor the progress on a weekly basis for a couple of months and then go down to doing so every month to keep track of how profitable the partnership is. You need to do this same thing with as many other websites as you possibly can. The more affiliates you have the more chance you will have at getting a good flow of new traffic to your site. However, don't overload yourself with affiliates because that could take away from your business site and you don't want to do that either.
